DNAs play a vital role in developing environmentally sustainable projects and their work brings to the fore challenges that exist in developing a CDM portfolio. We envisage that the conference shall enable the Southern African DNAs to share knowledge on implementing projects and discuss ways in which they may increase their support in growing the amount of CDM projects and ultimately increase the opportunities of SADC in sustainable economic development. In addition the occasion will be a vital opportunity for SADC DNAs to develop their position for COP 17 in 2011, to take place in South Africa.
At this event we will be discussing and presenting on carbon financing as well as tradable instruments on ACCE. This gives us an opportunity to advertise our partners. In addition, we will be discussing the development of an Africa DNA resource centre. This resource centre has a list of all potential and existing CDM projects which at some stage will require financing.
DNA representatives from the following countries have been invited to participate: Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia.
